serialized in: KC magazine [Kodansha]

. Well Shonan Jun-ai Gumi is the manga that came before GTO, and ran for 31 volumes. It concerns both Eikichi Onizuka and Ryuji Danma's high school days where the decide to turn their life around. To them, this means leaving their street fighting, bosozoku past behind and concentrating on getting laid

. Their strategy? To dress up as fashionable guys with no association to gangs, or street fighting (if someone dressed up like that these days though, they'd probably be looked upon as nerds

). Unfortunately, as the story progresses, they can't help but make new enemies. In this manner, they soon enough get in even deeper trouble with the local bosozoku (look it up

), street gangs and even yakuza. Old habits die hard I guess.
