[translate]Two calm boys for nothing Eikichi Onizuka and Ryuji Danma. Who has read GTO and Bad Company will have learned to know them, by now, but for all the others two bad students and hooligans from the hairdressing salon for one will be indeed amazing to meet these strategic change of look. Otherwise they will not find never the girl! and so... Sea, sun and little dressed !

Hmm, I see them at my bookstore (online) and they usually take out things immediately when it's out of print. I'm not sure though.

Just saw this on Wikipedia:

"The Tokyopop version of the manga is out of print as of August 31, 2009."

I can't believe there's going to be a whole generation of kids who are going to grow up without this manga. I remember sometime in the early 2000's when I was reading mostly comics and idolizing characters like Spider-man and reading one or two mangas like Battle Angel Alita and A.D. Police: Dead End City before picking up GTO and the Battle Royale novel... well today I've mostly given up comics and their politically correct skew in favor of the more free thinking perspective of manga and needless to say my affection for Spider-man has been transterred to GTO.

Man, that's really sad... Let's hope Kodensha re-releases it.

I'm mostly a used manga sort of person, manga at $4 a pop is just too irresistible to pass up, that's how I got most of my GTO.

No I heard a rumor that TokyoPop were no longer releasing it and immediately completed my collection by buying the brand new ones at full price, but more than half are used (even though you can still find GTO and most of TokyoPops editions of other Kodansha manga still on the shelf to this day).

There are probably a bunch of them left on the shelves, yes, but they are indeed out of print so once those shelves empty they're not coming back. :(
