Hey No_Master, I've been interested in watching some good French cinema recently.
In particular, Nouvelle Vague has gotten me intrigued. Of course I hear Jean-Luc Godard is a must watch, but are there any other directors or particular films that you recommend? And not just Nouvelle Vague but for French cinema in general :)

Of course! François Truffaut (from Nouvelle Vague) is one of the best french directors of all time, and Jean-Luc Godard too!

But recently there are some good french films :

Ne le dis à personne (Tell No One) from Guillaume Canet

The films from Luc Besson aren't bad at all! Some are better than the others, though...

And some old good ones :

Garde à vue from Claude Miller (a dark film, very dark), a remake was made : Under Suspicion, in 2000.

Almost all the movies with Lino Ventura, like Les Tontons Flingueurs or Cent Mille Dollars Au Soleil (with Belmondo) are good!

And I don't know if it well translated but all the dialogs from Michel Audiard are awesome! If you see his name in the credits you are pretty sure to watch a good french movie!

Pretty sick movie, but it was pretty good.

True Grit
I just saw it on Netflix, and boy is it good, I'm refering to the most recent one by Joel and Ethan Cohen, not the original with John Wayne. It's a western and it looks like they used CG the way it was meant to be used and that is to create these magnificient sets that are indistinguishable from the real thing. The story reminded me of the Clint Eastwood flick Gran Torino and how it was one man standing up to a gang of thugs in order to bring them to justice, just substitute Clint Eastwood for a 14 year old girl. It stars Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin (Hailee Steinfeld plays the 14 yr. old girl).

Watched recently Hurt Locker and Source Code. Hurt Locker was really gripping from beginning to end. Source Code is what I like in any Sci Fi time travel stories definitely one to re watch again in future!

I just managed to watch the whole Human Centipede II... The first one was gross.... But the sequel made goatse, 2 girls 1 cup, lemon party seem hot and sexy in comparison. Tom Six is kind of a genius, and I love how he doesn't give a fuck and somehow gets a film like this released. I certainly haven't seen anything like it. If you wanna be shocked out of your seat and overly disgusted, watch it.

Uh... No, thanks!

Latest movie I've seen?

The Crow 4 : Wicked Prayer

I stopped it after 30 min. because I really didn't like this Eric Draven, some 'cute' teenager instead of a real man like Brandon Lee (may he r.i.p.) in The Crow (the real one!) and the movie is too far away from the spirit of the comic imho!

I didn't like The Crow 2 but I liked The Crow 3!

I don't know if it is because I watched The Crow 3 before the others... maybe!

Hey guyz, i just watched Ip Man 1 which was a pretty great movie (its about the story of the teacher of Bruce Lee. its a trilogy). Funny fact is, they have the japanese invasion in china and one of the generals that challenged Ip Man is the actor that played Murai in GTO jdrama :D

btw not sure if this should go into the asian subcategory :?

I highly recommend Reign of Assassins starring Michelle Yeoh. All I'm going to say is that there is a very good plot in this and the action scenes are awesome too. Michelle Yeoh is one of my favorite actors and ofcourse crushes lol. The character she plays is very unpredictable and the movie doesn't give much away and kees you guessing.

I'm abit picky with HK cinema these days but this ranks right up there with Ip Man, Hero and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

During my insomnia last night, I watched "The Wall"... What a depressing movie it was, damn.

Love this scene

Kuroshitsuji 2014 aka Black Butler Live Action Movie

I'm not entirely familiar with this manga/anime series however I've enjoyed it ALOT! The action scenes were insanely good; John Woo eat your heart out! Negatives there wasn't much action and the plot was very confusing. Ending was very open meaning they could make a sequel.
