Ok I've got my copy and read about half of it (god it's huge!). First of all it has the same synopsis from the website, mistakes and all, on the back. Content wise I noticed a few spelling and grammatical mistakes but I suppose its not a first from Tokyopop.... Also, despite the back, Eikichi remains Eikichi and Oni Baku is definitely Oni-Baku. It's also pretty clear that they used to be members of The Midnight Angels rather than the onibaku as a gang, so that's pretty good. I was also pretty pleased that they haven't edited any images whatsoever. Yep, they've left in the cartoon penises . I didn't think they would change anything like that but it's still good. Translation wise, I don't really have anything to compare it to since we never worked on these chapters and the Mangaproject is probably just as bad but I think I can still feel a hint of "creativity" in the English Adaption... it appears to be not nearly as bad as GTO though. The staff are completely different. Also get ready to hear the word Hooligan a lot . Wether this is a good thing or a bad thing I'm not so sure... but it's better than MangaProject's "Brat" :P

Hey, cool. I didn't think it was coming out so early, I've had the date pegged for like mid June o_O

Oh well, it's good to hear that the quality is ok, although to be honest I'd buy it anyway ^_^;

(Another point I may as well mention here- I've come across a description in my SJG volumes of Masaki's fate, but I don't feel it warrants a separate, potentially spoiling topic, so if anyone wants to know, just give me the word)

Hey Cypher what's up?

Yeah the official release date is the 13th of June but I think it depends on where you go. My comic shop sometimes gets things in early (and sometimes very late too -_-;).

And yay, Masaki info! I'm interested ;)

How's the japanese going anyway man? I'm sure you've really improved since we last spoke.

Hey, yeah I'm just finishing up my exams soon (they're all really long and it's pretty warm here right now ;_;)

Well I've certainly improved since last year, that's all I can say ^_^ which you'd hope after an entire year's studying, but the workload is pretty heavy, you barely have time to do anything else.

B_L, I'll PM you what I got from vol. 8, because I don't want to spoil people, if anyone else wants to know about Masaki just give us a call :D

I got my copy today, and I have read it, and my opinion is very much like Bandit_Legend's, I think they did a good work on this one!

They treated it better than they treated GTO, like, for example; not any of that crappy made up stories in the beginning of every volume of GTO. Like Onizuka having a ferret fetich etc.

On the bad side; Too much Onizuka, they name GTO a little too much, on the back of the book it says: "Onizuka had to start somewhere".
"Before "Ekichi" become the greatest teacher in the world", etc. Sure GTO is Awesome, sure, Onzuka owns this planet, but don't forget to give Ryuji some creds too, eh, Tokyopop?

Let's hope they treat Saejima and Kamata nicely!

After reading volume 2, I dare to say; They're doing great work on the series.

However, the description on their website about volume 2 really sucks, it is ONLY about Onizuka and what HE is doing, not aword about Ryuji.

And has anyone seen a date for vol 3?

I'm still waiting for my copy :(. As I said earlier, it was due to come in late september, but the shipment got totally screwed up apparently. Oh well. Anyway about vol 3, I'm guessing it's coming out in January/Feb, but since it's still nowhere to be seen on the website, I'm not so sure.

Okay, there is no mentioning about RHZ either, even though it's supposed to be released this November!

hmm yeah that's true. I forgot about that.

I wonder if this kind of thing is happening with other titles too?

I can't find mention of it anywhere now, though... Maybe I dreamt it... :(

EDIT: Okay, now I know where I read it: amazon.com has SJG volume 3 listed with the release date being.... February 13th, 2007.
