Yep. In an attempt to battle my crippling loneliness and depression, I'm getting my own cat soon. That and a bunch of anti-depressants.

I had my facebook friends vote on the name of said cat; Pixel or Nemesis. Pixel won 8-4

It will require me to take responsibility for something for once, and I think that is important for me. I've loved cats all my life so I can not, no matter how fucking destroyed I might be at times, ever hurt a cat.

Getting the cat from some shelter, most likely.

Any advice for a novice cat owner?

Cats are pretty easy to deal with, I'd say. Just make sure it's fed and all that. Remember to keep its litterbox clean, or you might start to find cat pee in some deep dark corner of your apartment... Yeah. Basically just make sure it's okay. But cats do a pretty good job of looking after themselves most of the time. Be prepared for the occasional bites and scratches, cats play rough some times.

Having grown up with cats ever since I was a baby, I'm ready for scratches

I will defintively keep it fed. I hope I won't overfeed him! Litterbox will be cleaned every day!

Good to hear! We have two young cats (a brother and sister; we used to have a cat [from 1996-2012], so it made sense to get another when he died. There's certainly something soothing about them (except when they're racing around the house for whatever reason...)

It's funny when they race around though :P

But yes, having a purring cat in your bed is extremely soothing. Plus they're so warm and soft
